About
June 5, 2008Bruce is based in SE Michigan, close to Ann Arbor and the suburbs of Detroit. He specializes in weddings & portraits, as well as Michigan landscapes and macros, with particular interest in the moving waters of Michigan.

After a career in engineering was ended abruptly in early 2009 — though some say way too late! — Bruce decided that his passion should become his full time pursuit.
Bruce’s journey in photography started when he was 11, shooting with a simple Brownie Hawkeye box camera. With his father’s guidance, he learned to develop and print black and white images at home. As his interest grew, Bruce moved to 35mm format (after that awkward 110 instamatic era passed!), primarily shooting color film of landscapes, zoo animals, and friends in his hometown of St. Louis, MO.
Photography took a back seat during and after college, as Bruce began his career as an automotive sealing products engineer. With his free time, Bruce pursued his passion for water polo, first as a coach, then as a referee. He officiated collegiate and age group competition around the country for over 10 years.
Bruce credits his wife for his return to photography. In the spring of 2004, after a few weekends in a row officiating out of town, she suggested that he “get a new hobby,” and that was all the nudging he needed to seriously take up the camera again. Since then, he has been developing his craft while he explores the endless beauty and variety of nature and people throughout Michigan, his homeĀ since 1988.
